1. How do I get my LabelWriter® 450 or 450 Turbo to work on a Windows 7 PC when attached to a USB 3.0 port?
Some LabelWriter® printers manufactured after April 1, 2014 will not properly install on Windows® 7 PCs when attached to a USB 3.0 port. DYMO has developed an update that will fix this problem on these printers. For assistance, please click here to determine if you have an affected machine and install the fix or call DYMO Customer Service Support at 1-877-724-8324. Hours of operation are from Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm (EST).

2. How does the new “Sleep Mode” work?
This new feature is currently only offered on DYMO LabelWriter® printers. When your printer is not in use, the blue light under the label guide will dim thus indicating that your printer has powered down. This feature conserves energy without unplugging your machine.

3. How does the new LabelWriter® 450 label guide work?
This new feature was added specifically for the LabelWriter® 450. The label guide allows the user the ability to secure the label roll by adjusting the guide to fit the each individual roll. Finally, this feature works to prevent labels from drifting and jamming.

4. How many labels can a LabelWriter® printer over the course of its life?
A LabelWriter® printer on average will last 3 years. Your printer can print 30 miles (50 Kilometers) of labels over the course of its life—That’s 490,000 labels!

5. How do I switch between Label and Tape editors?
The Label and Tape editors are combined into one editor in version 8. You now design tape labels in the same manner and using the same label objects as die-cut labels.  Click on the Labels tab and choose the label type you want to use visually by shape and size.

6. What is the LWSupport utility and how can I use it to uninstall DYMO printer drivers?

    • If you see an error message after clicking Remove, restart your computer and re-run the LWSupport utility.
  8. After restarting, reconnect the printer to the computer.  Within a few moments, the New Hardware Wizard will appear on screen. Proceed through the New Hardware Wizard.   When prompted to locate the necessary drivers, enter the path of C:\Program Files\DYMO\DYMO Label Software\Drivers. This will install the necessary drivers for your DYMO printer.

Performing a self test can help you determine if the print head in the LabelWriter® is functioning properly.  During the self test, the LabelWriter® will print labels with varying line patterns.  Broken lines or gaps on the label during the self test can indicate a problem with the LabelWriter®.

  1. With a roll of labels in the printer, press and hold the form-feed button on the front of the printer for five to ten seconds. The printer begins printing vertical lines along the width of the printer. The test pattern automatically changes every 3/4 inch (19 mm).
